“Letters to President Clinton: Biblical Lessons on Faith and Leadership”

Plainview, NY, October 27, 2014:  The Young Israel of Plainview has just announced that prominent luminary Rabbi Menachem Genack has agreed to headline the synagogue’s upcoming Scholar-in-Residence program during which he will discuss the experience of participating in an ongoing dialogue with the President of the United States. The event will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 8:30 p.m. and will be held at the Young Israel of Plainview, located at 132 Southern Parkway in Plainview, NY. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

Rabbi Genack has proved to be at the forefront of visionary ideas and original thinking in both the spiritual realm and the secular world alike. His accolades are as admirable as his leadership has been sound. He has served as the Rabbinic Administrator of the Orthodox Union’s Kashrut Division since 1980. Rabbi Genack is a member of the Board of Trustees and Professor of Talmud at Touro College. He is a former member of the Executive Committee of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and was the founding Chairman of NORPAC. He is the noted author of over 180 published articles and several well-received books including his latest which he will be speaking about and signing, “Letters to President Clinton: Biblical Lessons on Faith and Leadership” a written dialogue between Rabbi Genack and former President Bill Clinton that spanned more than 15 years. Rabbi Genack is the spiritual leader of Congregation Shomrei Emunah located in Englewood, New Jersey.

Avi Ossip, a member of the Young Israel of Plainview Education Committee, reflected on the announcement saying “in a way, it’s almost ironic that a man who has served as a confidante and a sounding board for the commander-in-chief of the United States of America has proved, through the wisdom he imparts and the way he has carried himself, that you need not hold elected office to be considered presidential.”

The Young Israel of Plainview is a vibrant Modern Orthodox Jewish Congregation in Plainview New York. For more information on this and our other programs and events please visit our website at or contact Rabbi Elie Weissman at
