Deadline: Tree of Life Semi-annual dedications : We are once again making our semi-annual push to continue populating the Tree of Life along the side wall of the lobby. Baruch Hashem, we have had many simchas in the shul this past year – weddings, children born, grandchildren born, and other happy milestones in our lives. This would be a great opportunity to dedicate a leaf in honor of such happy milestones. The cost is $72 per leaf. We have added over 60 such leaves in the past three years. Please respond to Marty Taub if you would like a leaf as we only do this twice a year. Please ensure you get in your dedication with Check made payable to Young Israel of Plainview Inc. by Sunday August 19
15-Min-Hell: Intense Exercise & Self-Defense Class : We are starting a weekly high intensity exercise & self-defense class for the YIP men and youngsters. The first session is scheduled for Wednesday, August 22 at 8:30 PM. The prerequisite is some "entry level fitness" - exercise may be somewhat challenging, especially at the beginning. The first part of the class will be an introduction to self-defense techniques based on the philosophy of "gross-body-movements". Those movements may be your most effective self-defense tool during extremely high-stress hostile encounters. Training and practice will follow. In the second half of the class we will have a 15-Min-Hell exercise preceded by a 5-min warm-up.
Please RSVP: Lev Neymotin at libhyd@gmail.com by August 15. Note: since the available space is limited, for the first session we can accommodate no more than 10 people. First sign-up first served.
